Special Salad


I'm not sure if the picture does this salad justice. It was so delicious. At the bottom of the plate are thin slices of pineapple. It was suggested by some that such pieces would have to be machine cut. I can't remember the name of the machine, but am intrigued. Then there's the lettuce in the center. And on top is the strawberries, there are some blueberries, and blackberries, and candied walnuts. The vinaigrette was on the edge of too much for me. I was one of five people to have the salad (out of seven) and the it was expressed by two of the five that the vinaigrette was too much. One of the five had the dressing on the side and expressed that the salad was already flavorful, and hence didn't even use the vinaigrette.

One of the reasons I got this dish was because I wanted the mashed potatoes. Kind of silly, but true. Taking a cue from Petit Louis, I asked the waitress what the recommended wellness was and she said medium rare. As such, I asked the lamb chops be done medium rare. It seemed to come out between medium rare and medium. In any case, it was delicious.

So the topic of picking up lamb chops came up yesterday at dinner. But that was with a group of friends at a friends house, so there was a green light for stripping the bone clean. However, today I ordered lamb here at La Famiglia and I cut the majority of the meat with fork and knife, followed by various different tactics in attempt to not waste food. Overall, I restrained myself from picking the bone clean.

As such, I googled the question and read through some of the messages posted on this thread: Picking Up Lamb Chops at Dinner? The general consensus seemed to be it depends on who you're with and where you're at. There were some posts that bring up the subject of a Frenched lamb chop. See Lamb Rib Cuts for what a Frenched lamb chop looks like. One post suggested getting the leftovers to go and gnawing them at home.
