Curry House

20110627:
I first had some miso soup. The tofu in the bowl did not seem to affect me. It's possible I'm growing more tolerant of soy. Peas and soy, like peanuts, are legumes, so there might have been proteins my taste buds learned to dislike. However, I suspect over time my taste buds could have readjusted and I can now tolerate soy and peas, at least partially if not completely.

I had a piece of Stephanie's chicken katsu (dark meat) without the sauce. It was good, but left a that weird aftertaste on my tongue.

The gratin comes out temperature hot and I had to blow on it to cool it down. Overall, it was delicious and filling, albeit somewhat heavy.*

*I should note that while I ended up eating all of it, I had to slow down at some point.

Seafood Gratin.

Menu Description:
Seafood Gratin Blend of shrimp, white fish, squid and scallop in a delicious bechamel sauce with cheese. Baked very slowly in the oven.

Sapporo Premium Beer

20111213:
I'm not a big fan of Curry House, but I'm certainly down for hanging out with friends. So I came and ordered some (cold Hakutsuru) sake and dessert (sweet potato cake with ice cream). While they didn't say, I assume they were serving the simplest label of Hakutsuru: Sayuri.

20120620:
There's two types of curry, curry that I can eat and curry that I can't eat. I don't know the ingredient that discomforts my tongue, but I suspect some sort of sesame. However, for all I know, it's one of the spices that get used. Which kind of curry does Curry House have? I tried a little today (20120620) and it was discomforting. Apparently I already made such a conclusion on 20120627. It's unfortunate, because I enjoy the taste of curry and many other foods which sometimes use ingredients that are discomforting on the tongue.

As such, I'm willing to come to Curry House since my friends like it, but I order a non-curry dish. Well that's great, because "Omelettes are a Non-Curry dish!" (that's what the online menu currently says).

Menu Description:
Hayashi Omelette Rice Curry pilaf wrapped in egg, topped with sliced beef, onions, and mushrooms. Served with tomato gravy sauce.

Sagami-Tei 20110624

Return to Sagami-Tei Table of Contents

Half a stinky roll

2 or 3 pieces of the shrimp roll(?)

All but 1 or 2 pieces of the lobster roll

See my Drink Kirin Ichiban post.

1 order = 3 pcs. of Mussel

Half an Alaska roll

2 pcs. (?), 2 pcs. Ikura (Salmon Roe), 2 pcs. Shrimp Tempura | Note: there are 4 pcs. of Shrimp Tempura in the picture, 2 are Josh's

Spider roll. Where are the legs sticking out? :(

See the first and last picture in my Food Sagami-Tei post.
The first has the legs sticking out of my mouth and the last is just the spider roll.

1 to 3 pieces of the stinky roll

Stephanie and Phuong were there before us. They had two stinky rolls.
We took one of theirs while waiting, or so we thought.
Apparently they had intended one of the two to be ours all along.
Josh and I thought they were temporarily ordering it for us. So we ordered one for them.
Thus the one pictured directly above was somewhat unwanted.
Josh, Stephanie, and I just tackled it as best we could.
After Stephanie had a difficult time eating extra pieces of stinky roll, I found room in my stomach for more (yellowtail and shrimp tempura). Oops, sorry Steph! Hahahaha.

2 pc of Yellowtail.

And 2 pc Shrimp Tempura.

My total today is about 3.5 rolls and 6 sides. And a 22 oz bottle of beer!
Last time I had about 3.25 rolls and 4 sides.

Base $27.08
Tip $2.84
Total $29.92

20110620:
I guess taro is generally associated to older people, but I wasn't in the mood for the super sweet almond or any other flavors I typically get, so I went taro. I've had taro once or twice before. It's a good flavor.

20110708:
I didn't like the watermelon slush. It tastes too much like I'm drinking real watermelon. And that's not exactly what I'm looking for when I'm drinking a watermelon slush. I'm looking for something which is artificially delicious, not realistically healthy. Hope that makes sense.

[20110712]

20110721:
I got a large Jasmine milk tea with strawberry boba. Josh got strawberry boba with his milk tea last time and so I couldn't resist getting it this time. The boba is filled with a sour strawberry juice and so when you bite into the boba you get a burst of the delicious flavor!

Josh's drink is on the left and my drink is on the right.

Strawberry boba is popping goodness.

Yelp Review:
(*****)
I love this place. Today is hot and so I got a Peach Slush. I remembered to get popping strawberry boba today.

Other favorites include Jasmine Milk Tea, Coconut Jelly Milk Tea, Taro Milk Tea, and Mango Slush. I'll typically get regular boba with the milk teas and mini boba with the slush. Getting popcorn chicken is also typical.

Genghis Khan Mongolian BBQ

20101218:
This was my first time here at Genghis Khan.

The way the all-you-can-eat works is you grab a bowl, fill it with meats, vegetables, and sauce. You get in line and hand it to the cook. The cook throws it onto the plate and spreads it around between one and two times and then puts it into a new bowl.

There's a bread that you can tear open to put your meat inside. It's unlimited, but you have to keep asking for it, they won't just bring it out for you.

The meal also comes with a small bowl of soup, wontons, and some other things.

I occasionally like to put on sweet and sour sauce.

[20110710]

20110618:
I ate happily. Unfortunately, I threw some of it up.

I'm unsure of the cause, but I have several factors in mind. First, I might have been sick. Second, I drank some beer earlier in the day (Russian River Redemption). Third, I might have eaten too much, and the last of what I ate was rather salty.

With regards to avoiding the saltiness, a friend suggested perhaps its the choice of sauce. I know eating the meat with vegetables, rice, or bread definitely helps.

So we got there around 9 and they close at 10 on Saturdays. At one point, the server took the sweet and sour from the table, and I thought she said she was going to go refill it. But sadly, she never brought it back! I don't understand, if a restaurant has a certain closing time, is it wrong for me to expect full service up until that time unless otherwise specified.

Josh and I ran into a similar, but more reasonable situation at Crepe Corner on 20110625. At Crepe Corner, they were justified in cleaning up before closing time, because nobody was there.

Gelato Paradiso

20110618:
I think I got half strawberry and half menta (mint chip). I recall the separate flavors tasting good, but their combination wasn't particularly exciting.

I only took the two pictures above. Steph took a picture of her gelato, which I added below.
