Interestingly, this is only the second time I've been to Gertrude's. A lot of people at the table also ordered the Rockfish Imperial. To drink, the table shared a bottle of 2008 Robert Sinskey Pinot Noir.

I wrote: "The Rockfish itself is good, but plain. The crab compliments well. The pecans add the welcomed occasional crunch. The lime taste and overall sauce, especially in the crab is good." 7:16 PM

I don't have any notes on how this dish tastes, but I'm pretty sure its the "Grilled Jumbo Shrimp & Crab" and I'm pretty sure it was delicious.

I'm not always able to take clear pictures here at Gertrude's, but the food is great! Today I had the Pulled BBQ Pork Platter. I recall it was juicy and delicious. To drink we had a 2010 Veramonte Pinot Noir Reserva.

The first time I came here was some time in March 2008 when I was a prospective Hopkins student. I recall eating there with another prospective student, C.B., and S.K. I also recall having crab cake. Overall I was left with the impression of quality replacing quantity.

We rushed to Irvine from Doria's Haus of Pizza. Ultimately, we made it there in good time, about half an hour before closing.

Artic Twister

Though there wasn't any peppermint ice cream flavors, they did have some sort of peppermint or mint syrup which I got mixed into the chocolate, or whatever flavor I choose as the base. They top it off with some broken mint candy. Perhaps I picked it as a topping. Then my sister had a Strickuccino, which I think she thought wasn't good.

Other than it being far away, I wouldn't mind trying other flavors here every once in a while. There were days in December where they had Peppermint Bark, Peppermint Chip, and Peppermint. My sister, knowing I liked peppermint, told me to go on one such day, but one thing after another and I didn't go.

Doria's Haus of Pizza

I haven't eaten here in a while, but when figuring out where to go for dinner as a family, I picked this pizza place, mostly for nostalgic reasons. I recall first coming here some time in high school, with a school teacher, his wife, and a good friend. I remember someone ordering anchovies on the side.

Anyways, I definitely like all the local school pictures on the restaurant's wall, it gives the place a friendly feel.

Ordering both the half order of French bread and the pizza was a bit much for my parents, sister, and I. At the end of the dinner, we had a slice or two boxed for the road.

From the picture, it looks as if we got sausage, artichoke hearts, and ham. It was either a small or a medium-sized pizza.

After dinner, we headed to Strickland's Ice Cream.

My friend had an internet coupon for this place and he invited me to come along.

I started out with a martini.

For an entree I had Clubhouse Burger.

I wrote: "Here at Clancy's Clubhouse. Amazing burger. Maybe I so happen to like the sauce with the bacon combo. Delicious. Sweet potato fries are just average." 8:20 PM PST

My friend ordered the "Beef on Weck...aka: 'Kummelweck'" whose menu description reads: "Thinly Sliced Primed Rib, Au Jus and Creamy Horseradish | Kaiser Roll Crusted with Kosher Salt and Caraway Seeds | "Kummelweck" is German for Caraway Roll... | A Tradition in Western New York 12.5" To drink he had a Guinness and a Pyramid Hefeweizen.
