Yogurt Passion

For some reason, I've gone to Yogurt Passion three times so far this summer break. That probably accounts for at least half the number times I've been there (and bought something) since it opened! I'm sure by the end of the summer I'll go X more times and I'll be able to say with confidence, "I can't believe I went to Yogurt Passion X+3 times this summer, that's more than half the number of times I've been there (and bought something)."

What I like about Yogurt Passion is the popping flavor bubbles and the condensed milk. Otherwise, the frozen yogurt at Yogurt Passion is icier than the frozen yogurt at Great American Yogurt and Golden Spoon. Personally, I prefer the less icy variety of frozen yogurt. This preference is most likely an extension of how I like my soft-serve vanilla ice cream.

With that being said, the place is spacious and has a bright welcoming look to it. It also has pretty late hours, closing at 11PM on weekdays (M-Th) and midnight on the weekend. Thus, while I would probably always choose Great American Yogurt or Golden Spoon over Yogurt Passion, it's hours of operation and location makes it a place worth going to.

20140819:
The birthday cake flavor definitely tastes like cake. It's delicious.

The green tea latte flavor is okay.

The pomegranate raspberry flavor nostalgically reminds me of the similarly flavored push-pops.

After the three samples, I ended up getting peach mango, pomegranate raspberry, and strawberry. For toppings, I got mango poppers, strawberry poppers, mochi topping, and gummy worms.

The gummy worms, however, were a mistake. Of course, its one I've made several times now - I can't help it, I love them. While tasty when soft, the gummies harden quickly and become hard to chew.

In any case, the peach mango flavor is a delight and the strawberry flavor is just okay.

I like the mochi topping, but next time I'll try the cheesecake bits. 10:00PM PT

To drink my friends and I ordered a pitcher of margarita and that was decent.

I ordered the carnitas tradicionales and the salsa was spicy on the tongue - spicy like hot Cheetos. Without the sauce, the carnitas was dry. As a result, the dish was mediocre.

While filling, the entree was relatively more expensive than Alertos Mexican Food (cost with respect to quality). 7:14 PM PDT

My friend Josh and I got here a little before closing - 9:30PM PT.

I have no idea what the last part of the message means, but I liked the variety of flavors at Great American Yogurt. In particular, the consistency of the frozen yogurt is soft, much like Golden Spoon's. I like this softer frozen yogurt over harder, icy frozen yogurt. I do, however, love shaved ice.

From the picture, I can tell I put some sour gummy worms and caramel on top. If the place had condensed milk, then there would definitely be condensed milk poured on top as well.

Josh, Michael, Kevin, and I came here today for dessert after going to BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse.

I would further add that the dulce de leche was quite sweet. In fact, it was almost too sweet for me, which is saying a lot, because I love sweet food.

*The original note refers to "vanilla yogurt", and I'm just going to assume it meant vanilla-flavored frozen yogurt.

So Josh and I were planning to come here after getting breakfast at The Bread Crumb Ohana cafe, but there was a decent wait for The Bread Crumb and we up spontaneously decided to go to Great American Yogurt first.

In contrast to 20120523 where we happened to arrive just before closing, today we happened to arrive soon after opening.

In any case, I tried the nonfat peach flavor (delicious), the Chocolate Turtles flavor (okay), the Oreos flavor (better than the Chocolate Turtles), the custard (delicious, creamy; reminds me of the custard at Frostbite, except this one has an eggy taste; best flavor).

Having my fill of samples, I got some peach, custard, and took my chance on the (pineapple) Dole Whip. From what I remember, it tasted harder than the Dole Whip at Disneyland. However, Josh said it wasn't this hard the last time he came.

Overall, the custard was the best flavor. 11:58AM PT

I went to eat here once a year ago, also with the Dragon Boat group.

I was sure to order the oyster pancake, because the last time I came here I had some and it was so delicious. I had a lot of it and shared what I couldn't eat. I also ordered some noodle, but the oyster pancake was so filling I had to get most of the noodle to go.

Check out all the healthy greens underneath the pancake!

This is my bowl of noodle. I was only able to trim about half an inch from the top of what you see in the picture. Of course, I have no regrets, the pancake was delicious.
