Spring Fair 2014

20140425:
Today I had a hot dog from The Doughy Dog. For only $1 extra, you can choose to put all sorts of toppings on it. I got chile, cheese, sauerkraut, and cole slaw. It was messy, but delicious.

My friends and I also split a bag of kettle corn from Taste of Heaven.

20140426:
Today, instead of waiting in the long line formed in front of "I Love Thai," my friends and I impatiently got "chicken on stick" from the stand situated right next door. In addition to the "chicken on stick," I also got the I had also ordered pad Thai (no peanut in their sauce) and an egg roll. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre.

Arash had the chicken on a stick from "I Love Thai" yesterday and said that it was better. 12:32PM ET

Unlike yesterday, today we patiently waited in line for the chicken on a stick at "I Love Thai."

I wrote: "This chicken on a stick is really tasty. I suspect the primary difference is the type of oil in which they use to cook the chicken."

Afterwards, my friends and I shared a funnel cake (Boston cream).

Pazo Restaurant

20140423:
Today I attended the complex geometry seminar dinner held at Pazo.

A couple of the items going around the table.

While I only have a couple of pictures and recorded only one note, we had many small dishes which were quite delicious. At the same time, I had to be selective with what I could try due to my aversion to legumes.

I wrote: "I like the tartness of this zuchinni cake. The artichoke ravioli was also good." 8:32PM ET

To drink we had a bottle or two of 2010 Menhir Albanegra Rosso Salento.

After eating at Taco District, my friend Arash and I stopped by TangySweet for a little dessert.

I wrote: "TangySweet. I ordered mango peach. Unfortunately, I mainly only taste the tart yogurt flavor and the mango peach flavor is quite subtle. I liked Arash's choice of coconut flavor more." 7:26PM ET

District Taco

20140419:
Prior to coming to District Taco, my friend and I grabbed a beer at the Iron Horse Taproom. I had a Left Hand Milk Stout. However, upon getting hungry, we decided to look for food and ended up here at District Taco.

Burrito.

I wrote: "The fish (soft) tacos here (tilapia) are good but perhaps cost inefficient (8.50) compared to the fill of getting a burrito. Of course, this cost inefficiency may be the shared experience across all Mexican restaurants. For salsa, I picked a spicy look one from the salsa bar. It wasn't so spicy at first, but after having enough of it, my nose was definitely running." 7:03PM ET

After wards, we decided to get some dessert and dropped by TangySweet on our way back to Union Station.

Kommie Pig

20140408:
This is my first time eating at Kommie Pig, a BBQ food truck. After staring at the menu for a while, I decided to get a spicy pulled chicken (with coleslaw) platter, choosing hand cut fries and macaroni salad for my two sides.

I wrote: "Some of the fries have a burnt taste, but overall they're good. The macaroni salad has a minimal amount of mayonnaise. Unfortunately, it just tastes okay. And last, but not least, the spicy pork is decently spicy - at least for someone who doesn't usually eat spicy foods (lately I've been using Tabasco sauce in my Chipotle burrito bowls, but otherwise I don't usually eat spicy foods)." 12:44PM ET

Pete's Grille

20130910:
Today my friend Vi invited me to come eat at Pete's Grille. While I can't find any notes on the food, I definitely remember the humorous signs littering the diner's walls. In addition, the diner featured a single bar which served as the sole dining area. While there may be many diners with this feature, its the first among those I've been to.

Today Vitaly and I came here for some brunch. I got a western omelette with home fries and wheat and no cheese. After a brief internal debate with myself, I also ordered a side of turkey sausage.

Menu Description:
Western omelette. Ham, tomatoes, peppers, onions. $7.75

I wrote: "Oh my, I shouldn't have gotten sausage. It's deliciously salty and oily. The omelette itself was decent. The diner has a great feel to it." 3:58pm ET

Having finished our food and left, Vitaly mentioned, and I would agree, that the place doesn't serve great food, but it has a nice atmosphere.
