Having arrived late, there was plenty of food already on the table but much of it was cold, or in the case of the bruschetta, soggy.

We ordered some more meatballs and these non-chicken meatballs tasted strange. They were soft.

The fresh chicken meatball was much tastier.

I have another prosciutto and fig slice, because the last one was left me wanting another. It's delicious despite being cold.

And eventually I ate another fig slice (it also happened to be the last).

Tiramisu

For dessert we ordered one of each on the menu. The tiramisu was good. The chocolate cake was delicious; I thought it had fudge in it (but apparently not). The lemon dessert was too liquidy for me, but it had a nice lemony tart flavor.

Today I came to Calabria Bros. and tried the Calabria Bros., one of the house specialty sandwiches. I got it on wheat.

I loved the quantity of the prosciutto put into the sandwich. It was delicious.

While the menu description doesn't indicate any vinegar, the sandwich had a sour flavor which I thought was vinegar. Regardless of the ingredient/source, the sandwich had a nice kick to it. 4:30PM PT

At first I wasn't impressed with the sandwich, but the onion and celery provided a nice crunch. The onion also provided a nice spice. Overall, the second half tasted better than the first.

I liked the bread; it was mostly soft, but had a slightly hard exterior.

I wish the cheese had melted more. Maybe that's why the second half tasted better. Maybe that portion of cheese was more melted. 2:48PM PT

Today was decided to venture a bit of a distance for some poke.

Base (1): Brown Rice
Mix-ins (any): Cucumber
Proteins (4): Tako (octopus), Salmon, Hamachi (yellowtail), and Albacore
Sauces (1): Wasabi Citrus
Toppings (any): Pineapple, Mango, Kimchi, Corn, Masago
Sides (2): Crab Salad, Seaweed Salad

While I enjoyed the variety, I wish the fish tasted better; instead the fish just tasted okay.

Overall, however, it was a good dinner.

Oh, and the POG (passionfruit, orange, guava) Dole Whip was delicious.

We started with an amazing antipasti. The cheese (burrata) was amazing; it had the texture of an egg.

Walnut bread

Pollo farcito

To follow the antipasti we ordered three entrees: two risottos and a main.

The main was a pollo farcito (stuffed chicken). It was juicy and flavorful. The garlic was subtle. I liked the broccolini.

The first of the two risottos was good, but the beef was too soft for my liking. I liked the slight lemon flavor.

Squid ink with calamari risotto

The second of the two risottos was simpler in taste and also had a lemon flavor. Perhaps I favored it more because I like squid.

I tried more of the osso buco and confirmed that I wasn't a fan of it.

Having more of the squid ink risotto, I realized it had a great taste, though I was unable to describe it..

Overall, I liked the pollo farcito best, followed by the squid ink risotto, and then followed by the osso buco risotto. 6:38PM PT

To complete our dinner, I ordered the "house made seasonal 'cello" for my friends (I tried some sips but not much 'cause I was driving).

It smelled like Pinesol and might have even tasted like Pinesol. 6:55PM PT

I got the albacore tuna melt with the soup of the day (tortilla soup) as my side.

The tortilla was already allowed to soften inside the soup. The soup had a strong tomato taste.

Moving onto the tuna melt. It was simple. As Steph said, it was tuna-y. More or less just plain tuna with some avocado slices.

While my tuna melt was good, both the lamb from Josh's lamb burger and Steph's fried egg sandwich were better. In particular, the fried egg sandwich was reminiscent of French bread. 1:54PM PT

My friends and I shared a slice of ginger cake. There were so many delicious components: the cake's ginger flavor, the ice cream's pumpkin flavor, and caramel. Furthermore, I loved the texture of the ginger cake. It was like carrot cake, but mostly softer, yet also crunchy due to the occasional ginger cookie chunks.

Fried pumpkin: it had a nice salty taste

Sticky rice shrimp balls: delicious!

Sesame roll: with an allergy to sesame oil, I ate this cautiously; it was edible and tasty

Fried taro: good.

Shrimp rice noodle roll: wasn't as good as I was hoping

Soup dumpling: good.

Deep-fried lobster dumpling: this was okay; Josh mentioned the outside tasted like Chicken McNuggets and after he told me I agreed

Egg custard: tasty but it might have also been the culprit of an irritation/discomfort in my mouth

Instead of customizing my own drink (base, flavor, sweetness, topping), I decided to get the Pink Panther at 40% sweetness with mango stars.

Unfortunately, the mango stars don't easily fit up through the straw. I am, however, satisfied with the 40% sweetness.

Overall, the Pink Panther had a simple taste and at 40% sweetness the drink was mild compared to a Milk Tea or Jasmine Milk Tea.

First Awakenings

20160807:
My friends and I came to First Awakenings for breakfast and I decided to get two pancakes: All That Razz and peach.

The peach pancake was good, but not as fancy and delicious as All That Razz.

The All That Razz was amazing. The granola in it provided a nice crunch. Meanwhile, the raspberry contributed both a good taste and texture.

I would highly recommend All That Razz to anyone who likes pancakes.

On a separate note, one pancake will be enough to fill a single person. As such, it's best to get two or three different pancakes and split them two or three ways, respectively.* 9:33AM PT

I tried to flip half the stack to expose the Peach pancake...

Although I ordered two different pancakes and expecting to be billed two Singles, instead I was just billed a Double; the cheapest and standard deal is a Triple order.

Chowder soup was delicious.

Seafood Linguini special

The seafood linguini, one of the specials, had a dominantly cheese smell. The dish had a rich taste. I liked how the fish tasted. The scallop tasted good, but seemed out of place within the dish. The shrimp was delicious.
