The chicken had a delicious sweet flavor. It reminded me of a fall spice - perhaps it's cinnamon. Ada thinks it's either cumin or cinnamon. Either way, it's amazing.

I ordered the grilled lamb and substituted spinach for the polenta. Unfortunately, the lamb was just alright. In particular, it was dry and had a burnt flavor. Ada doesn't like lamb (or raw oyster).

The spinach soaked up the flavors of the sauce.

Golden Tofu Seafood Roll: I tried one of the tofu pieces from the tofu dish and the dish tasted good. Unfortunately, the fresher, less cooked soy in the center irritated my throat.

Stir-Fried Broccoli, Black Mushroom, Bell Pepper, Cashews & Mushroom: The broccoli dish had a delicious sauce. I dipped every broccoli in it. Both the cashews and mushroom in the dish were delicious.

I also tried a dumpling, but I was on a low carb, high fat diet so I peeled the dumpling wrapper off of a dumpling and ate the filling

It was uninteresting. The dumpling was filled with carrots, celery, some sort of root, and mushrooms.

Los Metates

Ada and I came here today and having started a keto diet I requested a custom order: carne asada plate but with cheese on top and lettuce on the side.*

Overall, the ingredient that had the must impact was the chili pepper, because it added spice to the meal. Meanwhile, the lemon helped balance the overall flavor.

I would also note that the cheese was nicely melted and the carne asada came in one single piece so I had to cut it myself with a knife and fork.

Chicken Enchilada

Ada got the chicken enchilada which she thought was good. She also liked how the cheese covered the entire enchilada and that it was so gooey.

Despite avoiding carbs on account of my keto diet, I tried one of the tortilla chips and found it was crunchy, not salty, had a bumpy texture, and tasted as if it were made of whole wheat. It was one of the best complimentary tortilla chips I've ever had.

*The cashier rang it up as a carne asada plate.

Foreign Cinema

20161009:
My friends and I came here today and while the entry hallway was dark and almost barren, there was an inviting red carpet leading from the restaurant's doors to the restaurant's host stand. Arriving at the host stand, the host/hostess asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. Having briefly checked the outside seating option, we were pleased with the heat lamps and decided to sit outside.

Halibut Ceviche

At this point, we were also taken by how the restaurant looked on the inside compared to its entrance.

For an appetizer we ordered the halibut ceviche and it was delicious; I had about three or four scoops!

Pork Chop

Ada ordered the pork chop, medium rare. Having had a taste, I found it delicious, juicy, and had a tasty seasoning.

I ordered the seared ahi which had a delicious lemon flavor and oil. The almonds in the dish provided a good complimentary texture. The dish also consisted of egg, artichoke, and bell pepper.

Finally dessert was ordered and, currently on a keto diet, I only had a taste. I was surprised, however, when everybody else only had a single bite or two.

Overall, Foreign Cinema had a great atmosphere and great food. I would highly recommend it.

20180526:
A friend was in town and we were looking for a place to eat, so I recommended Foreign Cinema, because I had gone before.

To start, we ordered the lavender baked goat cheese, carpaccio, and the poke.

The cheese was good. Josh thought so too. There was a lavender taste.

Beef Sirloin Carpaccio

Menu Description:
Beef sirloin carpaccio, fresh horseradish sauce, waffle chips, Manchego, watercress 17

The carpaccio was also delicious. I ate the yolk in one piece. It was cooked medium - perfect.

Duck Tostada

Menu Description:
Local halibut ceviche, avocado, cucumber, red onions, Scotch Bonnet peppers, pink lemon, taro chips 17

The ceviche was similar to, if not the same as, what we had before. It was also delicious, but I liked the carpaccio more. 2:42 PM PT

Champagne Omelet

For entrees, Josh got the champagne omelet and Ada and I shared a duck tostada.

I had a taste of the omelet and it was good. The duck dish was also good, but had more potential non-AIP food items than expected (e.g., beans and tomato sauce). 2:53 PM PT

Alido's
