I had some of the flounder and it was good, but I liked the other dishes more.

Ada got the chicken garlic sauce with plantain and avocado. I got the mini paisa. the fried pork was crispy, the edge was hard to break off. the steak was good. I couldn't eat the beans, too legume. everything was good. I couldn't eat too much plantain.

Mifune Don

I ordered ramen and tekka don. The chashu in my ramen was lean.
I encountered a strange meat. I expected the texture of soft fish, but instead it had a plastic, gelatin texture.
The broth was not special.
I was able to eat the curry in Ada's dish; she got curry with ramen, but likes curry with rice better and so she used the rice from my tekka don. The curry tasted decent. Eventually I rinsed my mouth with ramen broth just in case; there was in fact a light tingling sensation.
Ada didn't like how the shrimp tempura was overfried; it was brown and overly crunchy, instead of yellow and lightly crunchy. 3:28 PM PT

the cornbread was decent. tortilla soup with rice was good. country fried steak was good. the onion rings were good. the pot roast beef was dry. I didn't like the smooth texture. it didn't break apart and it stayed as a cube.

Unfortunately, worse than the food, was the snail's pace service. In particular, it took about twenty to thirty minutes to receive our cornbread and another twenty to thirty minutes to receive our entrees! Overall, we spent about 1 hour and 20 minutes from the moment we received a menu to the moment we left the restaurant.

Despite a lack of data, my impression is the average restaurant would have taken under 45 minutes to deliver the exact same food and service which we received today at Black Bear Diner - without feeling rushed. Perhaps an exceptional restaurant would do it in under 25 minutes - again without the customer being rushed.
