20160401:
Looking for sushi while in Berkeley, I Yelped my way to Sushinista where apparently there are two meal styles - a sushi burrito and a sushi bowl - and an array of options.
Build Your Own Sushi:
(1) Select Your Style: Sushi Burrito or Sushi Bowl
(2) Select Main:* Chicken, Pork, Beef, Salmon, or Portobello
(3a) Select 2 Veggies: Fried Zucchini, Yam Tempura, Red Radish, Romaine Lettuce, Pear
(3b) Select 1 Topping: Tempura Flakes, Rice Cracker, Bacon Bits, Sesame Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds
After reading through all the options and asking which protein choice was popular, I decided to get the (1) "sushi burrito" with (2) "grilled salmon with pickled scallion & corn (wasabi mayo sauce)" and (3) fried zucchini, pear, and bacon bits. Cautious of any sesame oil being used, I told the employee and he omitted the sesame sauce - otherwise included by default.
Thoughts:
Overall, I was surprised at the resulting sushi burrito; it was delicious. In particular, I thought the pickled scallion paired exceptionally well with the salmon and wasabi sauce. 1:45PM PT
With that being said, I was definitely disappointed that there were absolutely no raw protein options.
*Omitting details which I believe can be customized. For example, when I ordered the "grilled salmon with pickled scallion & corn (wasabi mayo sauce)," the employee confirmed if I wanted the scallion, the corn, and the wasabi mayo sauce. However, maybe omission is different from substitution.
