El Metate

20160703:
Due to the restaurant's floorplan, I wasn't sure if I should sit or order first. However, upon asking one of the employees, I determined I should order first, then sit, and then someone will bring the food to the seating area (and call a number).

While waiting, I got some salsa from the little salsa bar and munched on some tortilla chips. The tortilla chips were thicker than average, tasted slightly stale, and reminded me of Fritos, except not as salty.

Between the two tacos, I decided to start with the al pastor taco in the middle and it was delicious.

Both the meat's texture and taco's sauce were on point. Even portions of the pastor which were hard somehow complemented the meat's taste as opposed to detracting from it.

In contrast, the pork in chile verde taco was noticeably dry (at least relatively speaking).

Tortilla chips and salsa
In any case, I was close to full after finishing the second taco.

With that being said, this second al pastor taco was still delicious. However, the tacos flavor seemed to stem from the sauce (which had a light spiciness and perhaps the meat's juices) as opposed to the meat itself. Perfect. Thumbs up.

Overall, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and I'd strongly consider returning. 6:23PM PT
