Kushi Tsuru
20170206:
This restaurant is located in the mall in Japantown. After getting sake, I looked at the different food options and decided to order the sashimi combination.
Menu Description:
Sashimi Combination (12 pieces of Sashimi - Tuna, Salmon, Hamachi, White Tuna) 18.95
While I was only able to identify the salmon (second from the left) and tuna (fourth from the left), I took notes on each pass through the sashimi platter going in order from left to right.
First pass (left to right): fish | not so fresh | no comment | solid
Ada's friend Val shared a piece of her Korean bbq short rib (kalbi) and I found it overly chewy.
Second pass (left to right): okay | okay | uh... | better than the rest
Ada's chicken katsu had an overly crispy fried coating. Ada likes it better than the katsu they had yesterday.
Third pass (left to right): ok | good with wasabi | good doused in wasabi | tuna wins
Ada's baked salmon fish tasted dry. Meanwhile, the broccoli portion of the broccoli tempura was overcooked which made it mushy. And since I tend to enjoy my vegetables raw or partially cooked, this overcooked broccoli was absolutely disgusting.
Overall, I would say the service was good, but the food was just average: 3 out of 5 stars.
